Overview

Every attendance record, assessment, report card, and promotion is tied to a specific school year and term. Before using those workflows, create your academic calendar and set the correct current term.

Creating a school year

  1. Open Management Tools → School Year.
  2. Click Add School Year and enter the label, start date, and end date.
  3. Save the new school year.

Adding terms

  1. Open the school year and click Add Term.
  2. Enter the term name with its start and end dates.
  3. Repeat for each term in that year.
Warning — overlap validation: Managira blocks any term whose date range overlaps another term in the same school year. If the save fails, review all existing term dates and correct the conflict before trying again.

Setting the current term

Only one term can be active at a time. The current term controls which term is pre-selected when staff mark attendance, enter grades, and generate reports.

  1. Locate the target term in the list.
  2. Click Set as Current Term.
  3. Confirm the switch.
Wrong-term warning: If a staff member starts working while the wrong term is active, Managira shows a warning prompt naming the current term before continuing. Treat that prompt as a signal to return to school-year settings and correct the active term.

Switching to a new term

  1. Close the previous term if your workflow requires term closure.
  2. Open the new term and choose Set as Current Term.
  3. Confirm the change and recheck attendance, assessments, and reports.
Tip: Verify the active term before bulk attendance, report generation, or promotion work. Those workflows are much harder to clean up after data is saved under the wrong term.
